Unlikely to the coated, only cos there aren't many with a coated screen. The coated screens have a blue/purple colour to them, similar to a lot of Renaults, so have a look at your screen.  :y :y

I think I can help you firstly here are the part no's as given to me by OM:-
90457721 Excl Heat Reflective.Excl Rain Sensor  234.79

24433002 With Heat Reflective.With Rain Sensor 272.58

24433003 Excl Heat Reflective. With Rain Sensor 211.73

90457721 is available from VX and held in stock in Uk

the other 2 are available via VX  and held in stock at Opel Germany.

The Heat Reflective screens are the ones with a blue/purple tint caused by a reflective laminate membrane in the glass and is the one I opted for, suppose if yours has a rain sensor then like me you will need one of the screens from Germany it took 4 days to arrive. Can I give you a word of warning I first of all had a screen fitted by a firm that was utter rubbish
I now understand cost about 95.00 and obviously aftermarket and not a GM screen
when I brought this to Aviva (my Ins CO's) attention they put me in touch with Autoglass, who they instructed to fit the proper screen this they did to my absolute satisfaction
so full marks in my book to Aviva and also to Autoglass.
Hope this info helps you to get your screen sorted :y

So a non-reflective screen with no rain sensor is more expensive than a non-reflective screen with a rain sensor? Something doesn't ring true there...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. GM do not make there own glass, they use mainstream glass manufacturers like Splintex or Pilkington, and have the GM logo added to the glass.

You will gain nothing in quality by specifying glass with the GM logo on it, although if it were a door glass I would recommend insisting on this to ensure it matches the glass in the other doors. As it's a windscreen, which are often changed several times in a cars lifetime, it's not really necessary.

I would however recommend avoiding these backstreet glazing firms, in the same way as I would avoid backstreet garages.

I would always recommend Autoglass (I used to be a fitter for them) as they only ever use OEM spec glass.

Note: OEM spec is not the same as GM logo'd

I do not claim to be expert on glass but can only go on my own experience the difference between the 1st one fitted by AutoWindscreens and I now know sourced from a local supplier possibly made to pattern on a budget, and the quality of one now fitted which was sourced from GM via Opel @ Germany is remarkable obviously this has the GM logo it could even  be possible the two screens were made by the same maker to different specifications Autoglass did in fact fit my screen which they ordered from VX,it was sourced from Opal as to the differance in the price/spec of the screens don't forget one screen is UK VX sourced as opposed to German Opal

I wasn't having a dig at you Cliff. My apologies if it came across that way.  :y

Believe it or not, Autowindscreens are just about the worst windscreen company out there. Many years ago, prior to many take overs and re-branding, they were called Highway Windscreens (HW) and they did used to make their own glass. It was awful stuff!! I lost count of the number of undamaged HW screens I replaced when I was at Autoglass, purely because the distortion when looking through the screen was so bad, it was downright dangerous!!!

Stick with Autoglass. OEM or not, you won't go far wrong!!  :y

I should be on commission...  :-/

I don't think your digging at me you care enough to comment nothing wrong with that :y
Certainly will stick with Autoglass though don't forget it was Andy c who kindly took the trouble to give me the valued info that allowed me to spec the available screen details to Autoglass
Could be of value to know(if you don't already) that there is quite a practical difference in the heat reflective screen

As well as the obvious anti solar health benefits I think the A/C appears to be functioning more efficiently

How desperate are you for one mate, I can probably get an undamaged 2nd hand one installed by an Autoglass fitter for £100 all in, but you would need to bring the car to me...  :y

Albs will vouch for this service hopefully...  :)

I am not that desperate just worried that the think might cave in on the motorway!!!

That sounds good a good offer ... I am trying to weigh up whether a new one will be clearer for the extra dosh or a second hand one that might have minor scratches

Can't decide but very much appreciate the offer

Let me try and put your mind at rest mate.

I assume you have a crack going across your screen somewhere? The screen you have is laminated (this means that it is made up of 2 separate sheets of glass, with a layer of clear flexible plastic laminate sandwiched between them). The crack will be on the outer sheet of glass only. There is absolutely no way that this will cause the screen to cave in like the old toughened glass screens used to!  :y

Only thing to be aware of is if the screen is cracked, it is an MOT failiure. This means that the car is not legally allowed to be driven on the road. IME if you get stopped most coppers would give you the benefit of the doubt and issue you a defect notice, giving you so many days to get it fixed. However, if you get a jobsworth, you could get fined and even get points on your licence (similar to bald tyres), but you'd have to be pretty unlucky.
