Replacing TID with MID
« on: 13 August 2008, 07:12:22 »

I've got the basic display on my car, showing only time and radio frequency. Have been offered a MID (pn 90565934), new one with a reasonable price, and I might go for it. I know I need a tech2 session to get it working (or do I?) and I know I will not get coolant&oil level info, nor bulb checks. Anything else? I also need a new wiper stalk with buttons.

Main questions are: how to get and fit the bulb failure system? Coolat level system needs a new water bottle with sensor, washer level needs just a sensor (?) and oil level sensor is a sump-off job? Anything else?

Reason for change is to have the fuel consumption on the screen.

Fully retro fitting is probably more hassle than its worth.  The check system can be fooled by cutting wires, and grounding others.

Trip computer will work once the correct config has been slapped on via Tech2
