Hmmm think I might still keep the GID then, just cover up the time & date sections as they won't be needed & relocate it somewhere...

Would do, but I'm relocating the display to somewhere else, as I'll be fitting a TFT where it used to be, and as such, I can do away with the clock and date functions, all I need is the various info displays.
The incoming signals are simple, if your lcd is PC driven ;)

All 3 outputs will be PC Driven and shall be running from the same computer :)
All Check control functions are simple 12v/0v connections. Not sure about engine ECU protocol used, you'd need to look into that further.

Well if I could get the data on the consumption/temperature values, I suppose they could all be integrated somehow.

There is a thing called FusionBrain which gives various digital and analogue inputs, aswell as digital outputs to control various things so could route via one or 2 of those...
Temp would need to go via ADC (joystick input may be useful for this)

Im thinking about doing this with mine - however I thought about linking it to the TPS!

I might be inclined to replace the temperature sensor with a Dallas 1Wire device which you can interrogate by bit-bashing a port (plenty of open source tools available to talk to them). You could place several on the bus and monitor water, oil temperature, etc. too. 8-)

IIRC, the fuel demand signal is just a PWM signal which mirrors injector duration and RPM and Vehicle speed are square wave signals of variable frequency. Not the easiest thing to interface to a PC directly but feed them into a microcontroller to do the time-critical bit and spit the values into a serial port and it's easy enough.
