MID from auto to a manual
« on: 20 November 2008, 16:50:06 »

Hi Guys

This is probably onefor the tech 2 guys, But im looking to replace the MID (yellow and grey connector) in one of my omega's as the one in the car plays up with missing pixels when its cold and damp outside.

The car is a 2.5v6 manual, but the donor MID came from a 3.0 auto elite, of the same age.

Is there any way to disable the autobox check when the car is fired up? the message comes on the screen even tho there is NO autobox and wont let me extinguish the check light.

thanks in advance

yes....there is a wire you can cut.

But as Tunnie says, your best getting it properly configured for your car.

You can fool the MID in thinking the gearbox is happy, but you're probably better of getting it reprogrammed so the Trip Computer is more accurate

Ill settle for fooling it into thinking the gearbox is happy, fuel computer is useless up here cos of short start stop journeys.

Check Haynes book of lies, its connection from MID to autobox ecu, I think it just needs cutting (may need taking down to 0v, can't remember).

minifacelift one with dead pixels? crickey.

minifacelift will likely have to be reprogrammed, due to number of variations

Beat me to it TB...very rare for the mini facelift ones to die...I will have a replacement here, 98 3.0 elite may need some reprogramming but should generally be ok...depends on the spec of yours...the one its from is a 98 3.0 elite with bose, climate, 16" alloys sat nav and is an auto...dunno how much of that is relevant lol
