CCR600 does not see the CD changer
« on: 03 March 2009, 10:10:43 »

I have a problem with CCR600 with big CD changer in my Vectra. I know it’s different car, but stereo is the same so maybe you can help me. When I turn the radio on and press “O” button it only gives me “NO CASS” info. There is no way to switch to changer or enter changer code. Eject button only gets illuminated when radio is on but there is no way to eject the cartridge, there is nothing, it’s not even trying.
The was a Parrot system connected before (Bluetooth) but it was installed under plug and play extension. Big plug was disconnected and extension with parrot wiring plugged in. There isn’t any wire cut or soldered.
I tried to take CD changer out but don’t know how, but I’ve managed to connect another (100% working) CCR600 unit and still didn’t found the changer.
My last idea is the fuse on the changer, but why the button is illuminated?
Thanks for any help.

If the correct changer for teh head unit, then remove power from the head and changer for two hours, plug back in and see if it has reset - if so, it will allow you to enter code.

Not uncommon for changer to become unprogrammed if power disrupted from head or changer but not both together.

Thanks Dave.
Head unit and CD changer were factory fitted, but if I’ll give you changer model, will you be able to tell these two can work together?
If these two would not work together, shouldn’t the changer eject the cartridge (or at least try to read CDs)?
I had to disconnect radio to take “Parrot” wiring, while CD was still connected to 12V but not to the unit. Might this be a problem?
I will do as you advise and find out if it helps.

Unfortunately, I do not keep compatability lists. Did they work before you started messing around?

I dont know how it worked before, as I just got this car. This is a big 6 CD changer that fills whole glovebox. Second Vectra I have is fitted with 1DIN changer, same as with Omega FL 2 DIN models, just splited.
I am quite the big one was factory fitted, but radio was replaced in 02 (sticker with a company). might be that radio is different but dont think there is any lower spec unit with CD changer control that support this old changer.

bit  of googling reveals there are different cdc's in the vectra, cdc2 and cdc3, so poss incompatabilities, like omega cdc's really.

not that if affects your prob, just confims it probably should be ok.

gotta be worth a power off reset to try.

It`ll probably be a CDC2 which was fairly common in the Vectra, but like the Omega, there are many versions and they are not all cross compatable. Worth checking part numbers on the Vectra and Astra websites rather than the Omega sites, as its a different version from those used here.

Vectra with CCR600 can have cdc2 (6 disk) or cdc3 (4 disk), as long as they are the ccr600 compatible ones.

Had a similar problem with my setup, (also from a vectra, CCR600 & CDC2) both were seen working in the vectra, but when fitted to my omega, only the head unit worked, and I had the same symptoms, pressing the 'o' just said 'no cass' as well.
My problem was solved by the local car hi-fi shop, who said that I should make sure that the CDC was connected to the CCR600 before any power was applied to either unit, or the system got confused.
I removed all connections, and did as he suggested, ie: CDC to CCR, then powered up CCR and then CDC.
Hey Presto!!! pressing the 'o' button gives the 'CD changer' message, and the option to enter the code..

Might just be worth trying, especially as you say the head unit was powered down whilst the changer was still 'live' Could solve the problem.. :y
