The two vertical "wires" in the heater are also your radio aerial... so your have a problem there ... I'm no expert .. Dave DND is that ... but I'd check for any "breaks" in those heater wires, and check that all the plugs are firmly engaged in the aerial amplifier, if those are all ok .. it might be you need a new aerial amp .. :(

Check the wires between the rear screen and the rear aerial booster - a favourite for dodgy joints.

Whilst you are at the booster, there is another test you can do.

Tune radio into a weak station, unscrew the main co-ax aerial feed to the booster and carefully touch the centre pin of the disconnected lead with something mettallic, screwdriver etc taking care not to touch anything else or the outer casing at the same time (although a finger over the end often proves a satisfactory result)

If the radio bursts into life, the fault is the booster or aerial, if there is no different, then the fault lies closer to the head unit, or the head unit itself.

Same test can be carried out on the head unit by unplugging the aerial on the head unit and touching the centre pin again.

Good luck, and remember to post your findings.

A damaged track in the heated window can cause this too, as the current "arcs" across small cracks in the track.

Get on the back seat and breathe heavily (no sniggering at the back!) until you have light condensation on the screen and then switch it on.

If you've got any iffy areas, they will appear as "hot spots" and clear much quicker than the surrounding areas. You can either attempt to repair any cracks with a conductive paint, or scratch them through completely to stop the current and thus the arcing.
