Jumping my battery BUT alarm going off?
« on: 26 January 2010, 12:38:50 »

Hi

My battery seems to be totally flat as the central locking wont even open the doors etc.

I managed to use the key on boot as not letting me get in manually via the doors.

I tried using bootsters on battery but the alarm is going off.

I have heard about putting key in ignition and disconnecting negative within 15 seconds.

How am I going to jump my battery without alarm going off bearing in mind I cant even unlock the doors from outside OR inside so only access into the car is via the boot.

Turn ign. on. Jumpstart the car, alarm should stop. The powersounder has activated i.e. flat battery, unlawful entry into car = powersounder

Do you know if this would also work on a Vauxhall frontera as I have had one sat out on drive way for few months now?

If the car was locked before the battery went flat it will need the remote to reset it when you connect a good battery back up, or jump start it. When the alarm sounds press the fob to unlock the car, should reset it fine.
