Both prefacelift & facelift cars just have a choice of Celcius for outside temp. Facelift cars have a user choice of interior display in either C or F

facelift toggles vetween C and F by holding the auto button for a few seconds iirc.

to put a prefacelift into one or the other requires tech2 to change it.

The display currantly is showing

OUTSIDE TEMP
F          C*

This has only appeared after the battery was diconnected whilst i changed the alternator.
Nothing else was disconnected or changed.

so i need to reset the display. the car is a 97 prefacelift tourer. :y

your F is for F***ed ... or fault  ::), there's no resert for this particular fault. Likely to be the sensor on the lower edge of the front bumper towards the passenger side. They're about £6 from your local fiendly dealer  :y

F is for fault - reading from sensor too unplausible.  Sensor failed, or associated wiring.
