alarm question 95 estate motion sensors
« on: 03 July 2010, 10:55:40 »

Hi. I have a question about the alarm in my 95 estate. Its working as it should when i set it. If i open a door or the bonnet with the alarm on it flashes and sound the horn. The problem is that in the first ten seconds after i switch it on the alarm light in the button on the dash flashes rapidly before it slows down to the normal rate. Also the interior motion detectors dont seem to work. Left the drivers door window open and waved my arm inside in front of the sensors and nothing...
Any ideas?

ok. Meant i read somewhere that the rapid flashing indicated a failure. But i wont worry about that then. Its not ex police. Its a norwegian Opel Omega mv6 and the police here never used them to my knowledge.

Most alarms will have a period of around ten seconds or so where they "wait" for the alarm sensors to settle down to a stable reading before they come into play - on the Omega, this is signified by the rapid flashing for the first 10 seconds - after which, the alarm will either sound if tehre is a fault, or the sensors should start to operate correctly.
