Would it be OK to put a 2.5 diesel battery in a 3.0 v6 petrol?
The diesel has a higher output, so if I can, I would prefer to go for that.

I suppose so, but be careful as one of the disesal batteries is massive. Why do you think you need one so big? The 'proper' battery should be more than capable.  :y

It just that I had a petrol vectra with a amp powering some sub woofers.
The battery kept dying on me. As soon as I put a diesel battery in it, it was OK.

So now i prefer putting the largest size diesel battery that will fit into a car.

How can i take advantage of the vauxhall trade club discount? What would the procedure be?

An Autobahnstormer's member ship card gives you access to Trade Club. http://www.autobahnstormers.org/ It's £20 per year but purely from a finacial view you'd get that back buying 4 x 5 litres of oil for around £35+vat on the 4 for 3 deal.  :y

Given that you'll normally have the engine running when using the in-car entertainment equipment I can't see the battery making any difference.

Maybe the battery on your previous car was faulty anyway?

Ah, are we talking Macca Dee's car park? ;)

In that case, perhaps a separate battery would be the best solution because it can be located closer to the amps it's powering and isolated from the battery you're relying on to start the engine, so if you over-indulge you won't be treated to the shame of a jump start.

Another 15 Ah isn't going to do that much for you if you're already draining a 70Ah battery, though, IMHO.

I have a feeling someone tried to fit the 85Ah battery listed for the 3.2, to a 3.2, recently and it was far too big suggesting that that line in the trade club book is a misprint. My 3.2 certainly has a 65Ah battery and I can't see anything significantly (physically) larger fitting without some surgery.

I'd urge you to measure up before parting with any cash.

Agree with Kevin. My 3.2 also has a 65amp battery which was sourced from the local Vx dealer where I get most of my spares as I know a guy in the stores who gives me trade prices. He quoted the battery part no for my 3.2 Elite and I would trust him that he has given me the correct battery.

Something I must also mention here whilst touching on the subject of seperate batteries in the boot for the Macca Dee car park fraternity, and that is the astounding quality and performance of the genuine Vx batteries.

We have pitched these against most of the yellow and red top bloody expensive car audio equivalent batteries, and have reached the conclusion that the Vx ones are bloody good value for money !!
