ccr 2006
« on: 24 July 2011, 13:30:26 »

Hi all,

I have a CCR2006 in my facelift cdx.

It's started to skip when playing CD's.
Brought a brand new disc today, still the same problem, it plays a few seconds, then stops playing for 10 or so seconds, then continues to play, less than 20seconds later it stops again, etc etc
Very annoying, assuming its a problem with the laser? is it a common problem? can it be cleaned at all?

Thanks   :y

Had the same problem with mine. It can be cleaned using any normal cd/dvd disk type cleaner that you insert like a disk.
By the way, even after cleaning mine absolutely refuses to play copies of any type. I do very high quality ones too and they will not play, just skip when the genuine ones play without problems.
Hope that helps.  :y

Indeed, playing any CDR does seem to cause permenent laser damage.

It would be hypocritical of me to say don't do it, but just accept the fact you will knacker it.

oh dear  :'(

seems i've fluffed it then, saying that, i've been playing cdr's constantly for a good year and i discovered today that it only 'skips' on tracks 1,2 and 3. the remaining tracks play out fine.... maybe its just the beginning of the end

thanks chaps
