Ice road truckers:deadliest roads

Usual ice road crew go to the Himalayers/Delhi/India or where ever the hell it is.
Absolutely terrifying driving by the locals. Small shoebox cars over taking trucks in the face of on coming traffic(trucks and busses) on blind bends for the sake of waiting two seconds. Unbelievable.  :o

I hadn't seen IRT in ages until the last time I was in the US.. I was shocked to see girls on the show (two, I think?)..

On a similar vein, there was that series a few weeks ago with tv celebs driving dangerous roads - Tebet, South America etc etc.

Enjoyed those.

Kinda stopped watching Ice Road Truckers, the drivers started to get a bit 'false' and playing up to the cameras - police/camera/action style...

I've just come back from those roads 2 weeks ago, and yep they're mental!  I expected it though as I've been to India before.

It's especially dangerous at night, still loads of traffic, unlit roads and the headlights are very poor ~ equivalent to our sidelights.

There are people hanging off every vehicle imaginable, everything just screams unsafe but that's how it is there.

We even had a motorcyclist crash and grind down the side of our Jeep, despite it  not being our fault our driver did not stop and drove off as fast as he could.  The reason being that we weren't local to that particular village and when there's an accident a big crowd swarms to defend their locals - whether they're in the wrong or not.

Worst roads I've been on though are the mountain roads to Bhutan, scary stuff!

Funny how ordinary folk who get featured in fly on the wall TV programmes, then become celebs....  I bet they got well paid to go to where ever it was and probably more fun than driving a truck across a freezing wasteland!!!  Good luck to them!!  :y
