Speedo, Cruise Cont, ABS and traction control
« on: 07 October 2011, 17:15:19 »

Had a recent problem with my ABS and traction control(R Reg omega elite estate). Lights would not go out. Also speedo and cruise would not work. When lights went out everything then worked again meaning, I guess, that everything is tied together. Is this a relay type problem or signs of a larger problem?
Any help most appreciated. cheers Mike

The classic symptom I'm afraid of a failed ABS ECU. You need A N Other ECU from the same kind of car ie 2.5 manual etc or get yours repaired - around £130 so they say  ;)

Classic indications of ABS ECU failure  .. :(  Numerous threads on the subject .. but put simply .. fixes are :

a) New from Vx ... probably more than the car is worth

b) 2nd hand from a breaker ... might need a tech 2 sesion unless you can find the same model year/engine spec

c) have yours repaired .. around £130 with a 2 year warranty.... couple of places do them.. I used BBA-Reman and was very pleased .. google them for info

Actualy changeing the ECU is non-technical ... 6 torx bolts  ... but access is a bitch .. getting the it off is easy, refiiting is ...you'll fill a swear box ... however it is easily doable .. the time taken to refit is purely dependant on how often you drop the bolts and have to pick them back up !!!

:)

if the last letter of vin is v, you may just have a sensor fault. If last letter of vin is w, ecu is looking lkkely
