ABS LIGHT ON/NO SPEEDO
« on: 23 September 2011, 00:26:23 »

Bought a f/l 2001 cdx two days ago,had been standing for six months, today have an orange abs light permanantly on and no speedo, info display workining in some sections,no average/fuel consumption etc, guessin it gets that info from whatever has failed, have read the posts, two commonest answers seem to be,diff sensor or abs ecu faliure,
first question, where is the diff sensor?,second question how likely is it to be the abs ecu?
have tested the brakes on loose surface all seens to be ok,
any suggestions welcome,

My speed sensor failed last week. There is one at either side on the rear of the diff, just held in place by one bolt.
My ABS/TC lights came on but the speedo was ok.
I would suspect its the ABS ECU in your case, but you need to get it diagnosed before you start changing parts.
Not sure if the paperclip test will diagnose ABS ECU. :-/

Classic abs ecu failure mate - you will probably loose speed sensitive power steering too!

Fiddly job to do (lack of space) - either replace with 2nd hand unit off same spec motor or get yours repaired (~£130)

update on abs light/speedo not working,
as reccomended i removed the rear diff sensors and cleaned them, they were covered in crud, easy job to do,back to the garage to have the ecu reset, cannot read ecu,no joy,
managed to source a same year same model abs ecu from twiglet,(many thanks to him)fitted in 2 hours,no comment on that,
just a pig of a job to do very fiddly more than anything,
off to the garage for yet another reset, cannot read from ecu,no joy,
as an afterthought went to another local garage, they said no reset no charge,
left it with them for one hour,no power to ecu, checked the fuse, yes you guessed it FUSE BLOWN,
but he did say the old unit was prob knacked hence the fuse blowing, gave him £45 and
left a happyman,
ABS LIGHT ON SPEEDO NOT WORKING,CHECK ABS FUSE FIRST
