Selling cars Spanish style. Pt1
« on: 03 November 2011, 11:32:40 »

I thought I would pitch my 3litre Omega to the "Omega enthusiast" local Spanish  garage owner.

What a disaster. It was going OK until his son tested the engine by revving it and holding the revs and then revving a little higher and holding the revs a little higher. Suddenly a geyser of water appeared from the back of the engine. That concluded the sales pitch. No good same problem as my engine.

After I had recovered from the shock of it all, I asked him to show me what exactly he thought it was that had failed. As I suspected it was the HBV. His non interest argument seemed to be based on "If my engine had a dodgy HBV then it would have whatever had happened to his engine". Maybe his 2.5 about 1997 car had been run without proper mix of antifreeze till the headgasket rotted. One look at all the boxes of bits in his boot and car convinced me that his engine will never run again.

So have now got a problem with mobility until I can get a replacement HBV organised.

You break it, you buy it, surely? ;)

That was true when a mate of mine test drove a Supra. Mind you, it was a slightly more comprehensive fault he found, involving a wet roundabout, a lamp post and a defect in the seat-to-steering wheel interface. ::)
