Global warming...an update
« on: 30 October 2011, 19:13:17 »

Remember a week ago when the BBC was full of unconcealed joy over unreviewed, pre-publication paper, released by a chap called Muller at the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature project (BEST)? IIRC they ran it for a while as a headline piece, such was their ecstasy.

"Global warming 'confirmed' by independent study"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-15373071

But, oh dear...

A leading member of Prof Muller’s team has accused him of trying to mislead the public by hiding the fact that BEST’s research shows global warming has stopped.
Prof Judith Curry, who chairs the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at America’s prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology said the project’s research data show there has been no increase in world temperatures since the end of the Nineties.

Another cover-up? Time for some more popcorn, methinks.  ;) ;)

All scams find the truth an inconvenient fact.  ::)

I've yet to hear a climate change expert, explain why this time it is different when the polar ice caps have melted, twice before, before man existed.  ::)

Why are the cardigan wearing tree huggers, always trying to keep things steady state anyway, as evolution has always depended environmental changes. Without an asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs, mammals would not have come to the fore, so we exist.  :y

Just for the record, I too am sceptical of the claims of global warming. We had our last ice age only 10,000 years ago. So it is hotting up again before it no doubt heads for another ice age. Not enough accurate statistical data has been collected to prove anything.

I do know though that man is on some kind of crazy exponential path where our unsustainable polluting and changing our environment activities are at an all time high which will only be surpassed by tomorrows new high. That alone says to me that we are changing our planet for ever, including possibly the weather.

Nature is a wonderful thing though and it will find a balance as it consistently does.
