Well, it's not far from me if you're serious about it. Could take a look?

Engine is not turbocharged. Probably a "pintworth". Pinto bottom end with Cosworth Turbo cylinder head.

You can make a very solid, strong, powerful NA engine this way, but to get it right takes deep pockets and you can also make a complete can of worms out of it, so one for the brave, I would say. Forget the engine. Wouldn't cost much to drop a Pinto in if that one turns out to be a waste of time. As you say, that money if the bodyshell is sound is a give-away before you talk about Wilwood brakes, LSD.

The fact that the owner goes on about contacting him before bidding when it's a classified ad rings alarm bells too.

I'd be interested to see how much of the log book matches his description. :-\

Thanks Kevin but no need to go & look on my behalf. Whatever it is it's not right & pretty as it looks it'll probably want a pretty penny thrown at it. For the price it could work for some one but a standard example fetches 3 or 4 times that as you know.

That said if you wanted to satisfy your/our curiosity i'd love to know what it really is. He's priced it so low it can't be right ala Mini Cooper S etc. ::)

Got to be a wrongun.I would be less surprised to see another zero on the end of the price. Reminds of when I came close to buying the actual RS2000 used in The Professionals (although there may well have been more than one used for filming).I was talked out of it because it would have been abused and thrashed. Wish I had have though,it would be worth a bloody fortune now. ::)

Something not quite right with this, as others say, it is too cheap and if was right it would be sold now, an expert of specialist would have been there, cash in hand, in minutes of it being advertised.....
Standard Escorts in that condition are advertised for more ::)
