sky box
« on: 05 January 2012, 19:44:53 »

Evening I know somebody on here works for sky but i cant remember who. My question is i have 2 sky + boxes that over the last couple of days just keep turning themselves off. I need to leave them for a few mins then turn them back on. I was wondering if it had something to do with the wind. Or do i need to buy two new boxed.

Tunnie is your man.

Sky digiboxes are universally shite, and poorly made with underated components.  Replacement is usually best option. Ring 'em up, threaten to cancel unless they replace them for free

Phoned sky last week to cancel our sky+ account, main reason being the noise that the hard drive makes.Hoping that they would offer a free upgrade, but no luck.

Yes, I must admit I'm on the cusp of ditching Sky due to a customer service issue - a shame as I use their Arts Channel quite a bit.

I've had Sky from the outset (analogue, digital and HD) but it seems that customer loyalty doesn't rate highly on their list of priorities.

We got rid of sky some time ago, settled with free sat, as digital seemed to have problems with the weather, still mostly crap on the tv but not paying £40.00 ish per month for it, and I am not interested in the sports stuff..... :D :D

It's a real shame Sky won't just give you a CI card to plug into a decent satellite receiver. The freesat EPG and tools on a modern TV really show up the Sky set top boxes these days. Much more responsive, clearer displays and it would be one less box to clutter up the living room (not to mention sit there taking 30 watts 24/7).

Sorry to hear a few of you are having issues, drop me a PM pauls, include either your address & name to which the account is registered or an account number, I'll raise a request internally & get someone to contact you.

I've seen a refreshed & updated EPG guide, it looks considerably better than the current one. Not sure when this is being released, but looks not too far away.

Sky has brought its box production in-house, they were previously outsourced, but for a number of reasons they are being built internally now. I have one of the 1TB boxes running staff firmware we get to test, its been very stable.
