firstly happy new year to all.

I have heard and felt a knocking from what appears to be steering.
I took to local garage who put up on ramp and looked and listened for
10-15 mins  and only thing found was drivers side track rod needs replacing.
noise stopped when no weight was on front wheels.

any suggestions

Droplinks,wishbones,trackrod,steering idler....could be a number of things. Really needs someone who is Omega competent to have a look at it imo.

Just had a look at this one and I am flumoxed 

Nothing unusual in the steering mechanism, not the front suspension tops either.  As it only happens when there is weight on the wheels it is difficult to see and even hear/feel where it is exactly coming from.  At one point I thought it may be coming from the back but that was ruled out even though the nearside rear spring creaks.  It's defo not that though and not the wheels catching on anything either.

My thought is something in the exhaust/gearbox area, maybe the bolts are shifting under the stress of full-lock, but that seems to be where the noise is coming from.  It only happens when full lock (or near to) is engaged left.  I would need a pit or similar at the moment and I have access to neither at the moment.

and investigate the exhaust and report back

So is this while the car is moving and with almost full lock on?

Yes, not always at the same spot though.

Bah. I hate noises via a key board. Could be bloody anything.

It is as the steering is moving, not coming from the PAS, suspension, idler arm AFAICT
