This is the list of checks I have compiled so far, can anyone add anything I have missed? Many Thanks.

Omega - Things to Check

- Peddle Test - Brake and Accelerator - Together - Electrics On. Constant flashing means no problems.

- All Warning lights appear on dash when car starts and then go out - ABS, spanner light etc.

- Coolant - clear/blue - not brown/ not over pressurised.

- Power Steering Fluid - reddish/pink - not brown.

- Drainage hole - passenger side, blocked? Check as causes water in footwell.

- Check Cambelt to make sure tensioners were done also.

- Radiator - no white mildew marks.

- Battery age.

- Rust, wheel arches, doors, sills.

- Check electric seats.

- Horn works?

- Steering wheel controls?

- Cruise control?

- Headlight Washers?

- Check for uneven tyre wear?

- Wet Carpets?

If the Vxl dealer has used the correct 'longlife' coolant when serviving the car, it should be a pinky/orange colour.  :y

Also, the CDX should have Xenon headlights.  Make sure these work as replacement bulbs are expensive.  These are automatically adjusted via sensors, so no in car adjustment.  If they are pointing towards the floor, the adjuster mechanisms may be broken.  Not a difficult or costly fix, but may indicate a front end impact, or be another bargaining chip.  :y

Thanks Twiglet, just trying to make sure I don't buy an 'abused' car.  :)

Hi everyone,

I'm new on here so please be gentle. My dad has owned an Omega for years and I've decided I'd quite fancy one as well.
I have been looking at an 03 plate CDX 2.6 V6 with 70,000 miles on the clock. It is a one owner from new car and has a full Vauxhall service history including the cambelt at 65,000 miles.

Is there anything I should be wary/concerned of? I am planning to keep the car for the next 2 to 3 years and am hoping for trouble free motoring.

Many Thanks in advance,

Dan.

Not one to insult your intelligence as you may have already thought of this.  But is the car being sold at a dealers or private sale?

Either way, I personally would do a HPI / check on the car to see if all is okay.  Just to make sure it hasn't been in an accident and been assessed as a B or C repair as I know some insurance companies will view it as a higher risk due to the repair having been undertaken or a ringed car.

May seem over the top and don't want to worry you, but best to check before parting with your money.

If all works out, hope you enjoy owning an Omega when you get it :y
