what a pig of a job with air con on the car.Looked at the haynes explains after i couldn't quite find it and they suggest take off belly pan and remove engine gearbox mounting brackett. Seemed a lot of work to remove 1 little bolt even though could only touch it with finger tips (big hands tight space).Looked at the situation for a few minutes trying to feel the bolt head and a penny dropped remove dipstick tube only one bolt and pull it out .Then tried to use star sockett to undo very awkward for ratchet so used ring spanner (all by feel only) to uncrack bolt and then undo rest by fingertips. pulling off sensor a little awkward but ok got it out .taking it with me to make sure get correct one tomorrow hopefully wont be to bad to put back in .Any one else had this trouble or done it this way

Is this the same situation for a 2.2 L 16V?

I am trying to fix this on mine and all I can find is a big chunk of bracket for the PS-pump and the AC-pump that seems to block any way to reach it.

Exactly the same! As said, remove the dipstick tube (1 bolt) twist & pull the tube free from engine casing then as described ^^^. A lot easier with thin hands & fingers but very do-able

OO good     got this job coming any day now lol  so Thx for tip, Haynes is all very good if you have a fully fitted garage,ramp lift etc but sometimes I have often had to find a DIY way that works just as well, think maybe they arent allowed to show it or the book would be 10 pages long

This is really a PITA, I have been out all morning in the freezing cold trying to remove this little bolt that holds the sensor.

I can feel it with my fingers, but I can't get that little ring spanner to catch up with the bolt head. When I feel around with my fingers it feels like the sensor is obstructing the space around the bolthead.

I have tried with a few different spanners but none seems to be able to hook up to the bolt.

Just checking, the size would be 8mm, right? Same as holding the valve cover?
