Heating not working -where to start?
« on: 31 January 2012, 23:11:12 »

Have a long standing problem with my MV6 (manual estate i that makes any difference).
The heating/cooling/blower system doesn't work as it should.

Symptoms:
Cold air to rear seats, doesn't vary with fan speed,no hot air.
No air from front blowers - a small amount of cold air to windscreen, regardless of position/heat setting.
Blower speed varies with controls (by sound) but no variation in actual airflow.

I'm guessing there is some problem with the actual flaps/valves which control the air flow - but can't actually find out where they are.

I'm starting to get severe earache from SWMBO (Mrs Egg) who is now insisting on using the transit (which has working heating) instead of the mig.

Hi bigegg  :)
you know Im quite a noob on here yet, but the fact no one has replied makes me think this is some what of a mine field  ???
I looked in the ol' Haynes and too be honest unless someone has actually done this job themselves think its going to be a "suck it an' see" job.
If it was me I would break out the manual, refer to section 3 and work through it bit by bit, its all servo's and valves, not like the old lever and cable days lol
Or maybe stick with the forum, maybe sooner ( hopefully) or later one of the more experienced guys will notice it and come up with your solution.
Good Luck,  any way ya could just keep the mig for sunny days  ;D nothing wrong with a good old ford tranny  :y

Just an idea but if you check the maitenance section there is a bit titled heating to one side. If you follow this it cold do the trick. I had same sort of problem but had no heat from front turned out both links had come of. It will be very fiddly and you may loose some skin but will be worth it i am now nice and warm.
Good luck hope that helps.  :y

firstly what car have you got?? update your profile so people know  :y

you can try and reset the system by ignition key to position 2 then press auto and off together until you hear the servo motors working, if that doesnt cure it try this  :y

I'm guessing my profile disappeared in the move to the new forum  ::)

It's a 3.0 mFL (1998) MV6 Manual Estate.

I have tried the reset trick - no effect, I can't even hear the servos  :(

I had similar problems, no air from dash vents and no change in temp when adjusting temp settings on climate control.
I removed climate control panel and disconnected replugged in disconnected again then plugged in again and problem solved.
Mines a 1996 Elite Saloon.
