Refurbing alloys
« on: 04 February 2012, 04:17:36 »

All - looking to get some Elite 17's (fl 5 spoke) to refurb for the summer. Is it possible to get the centre plate coloured in to match an alternative finish colour?? I was thinking of doing an anthracite or black chrome finish. Anybody got experience / pictures??

Just spray the centre caps with an adhesion promoter and then paint them with the same paint as you paint the wheels with. ;)

You don't even really need adhesion promoter, just key them up with 400-600 grit, prob wet&dry best and paint over.

Personally,if Im painting plastic I always use it.I find it tends to flake off after a while otherwise.

No harm in using it i suppose, I work in a bodyshop and we never use adhesion promoter, although the boss is a bit tight!
