battery light

can anyone point me in the right direction driving home from work tonight my battery light came on and will not go off the belt is still on and not slack is my alternator cream crackered :( :(

seems like its not charging.. check the battery heads and alternator connections..

if its not a connection problem, alternator must be serviced asap..

ailing either of them, find a decent local autospark and get your repaired rather than buying a 'recon' alternator.

yup with the amount of salt etc on the road give all connections a good spray with switch cleaner and give a good clean on the alternator, check battery leads are secure and not fraying or loose in the crimp, if this doesnt cure it then go down the route of getting  the alternator tested/repaired :y

thanks for the advice guys will check the alt when/if i get to work tomorrow i know a good auto elec who repairs alternators so maybe have to go that route if everything else fails :y :y
