Expansion tank
« on: 12 February 2012, 21:50:54 »

I have driven my car for 2 days since it has been off the road for a month or so , all has been fine since i replaced the radiator/HBV and full coolant change , i keep getting the coolant level warning light flashing on start up and when i turn the car off after a run but i have checked the expansion tank and its at the right level . Is this a sensor that needs re setting , the warning light does not come on after i have re set it on the steering stalk or when im driving the car  :-\

Take the bottle cap off (when cold!), poke your longest pinkie into the bottle & give the float a jiggle around to see if it's stuck. If this doesn't do the trick, pull off the metal clip securing the bottle to the wing & push the bottle towards the engine an inch or so to clear its locating lug. It can then be lifted enough to check the multiplug on the bottom of the bottle is fully secure. If it is, then unfortunately you need a new expansion bottle as the float switch is U/S! :(
