Towbar/tow hitch electrics
« on: 13 April 2010, 00:12:54 »

Hello

i was searching the forum for advice on getting a proprietary pug-in electrics kit (single type) for my 2003 estate.

My intention is to have a detachable towing hitch, as unobtrusive as possible.

However, I am not clear what part numbers I am supposed to be looking for eg 91149320 and X25 (numner that are mentione din passing elsewhere on this forum).

Local main dealers have shrugged their shoulders and local aftermarket people seem just to want to scotch-lok!!

Any assistance gratefully received!

thanks

It does defend the car nicely in an accident. A Micra got punted into the back of me last year. Towbar went through its' grille, through its' radiator, hooked round the power steering pipework and then pulled it all back out through the hole in the rad. :D My car had a bit of cracked paint on the bumper and a bent LPG filler bracket. Micra probably never moved again (especially considering the mess the Range Rover behind it made to the back end). ;D

For a minor shunt I'd agree, but a decent bump at the back of the car on the towbar will concentrate the whole impact on the towbar fixing points.  :-\
