Automatic breather or vacuum pipe?
« on: 10 March 2012, 10:29:16 »

Hello all

From a new member.  I bought an Omega 2.2 sport automatic last week 2003 plate and think it is a wonderful car. However I noticed a rubber pipe going down towards the gearbox that was not connected on the engine end.  Does anyone know what it is meant to do or where it connects to?  Also be interested to know members real world experience of petrol consulmption.  Would also like to know if anyone has made an lpg conversion and with what results.
Look forward to hearing from you!

its not meant to be connected its just purely a breather pipe HTH  :y
as for fuel consumption i get 26 mpg average on my 2.6 auto, but i believe the 2.2  to be a bit less than that ;)

It's the gearbox breather pipe. Make sure it's hooked up over one of the pipes/cables high up in the engine bay at the rear of the block (it has a curved end for this purpose) so that it can't fall downbelow the engine bay. My 2.2 gives approx. 20-22mpg around town on short stop/start journeys but gives a reasonable 28-30mpg on a good run :y
