Just re read that old post and noticed you had read it yourself  ::)

As MarkDTM and Daz said, give it a try, it worked for me  :y

Leave the fernox in there for a couple of days or longer if you can.

hth  :y

Does the rad have to come off ? Just thinking about blocking the pipes off if i can , then filling it with the rad flush  :-\ then again i wont be able to reverse flush it  ::)

Yes, pull it out and lay it flat on the ground in you back garden.
I blocked up the holes with a few poly bags and some gaffa tape.

As mentioned before, leave the fernox or similar stuff (I got mine from B&Q) as long as you can  :y

Ok thanks for your help TG  ;) Looks like a weekend job as cant take off the road till then ....will give it a try  :y

Failing that it will be water pump next  ::)

Thanks all  ;)

Cant remember who quoted this but could this be why my rad is not being as eficient as it should be .

Quote
SLudgepump = autogearbox

box to air is gearbox heat exchanged in radiator to cool it
I.E gearbox cooler built into side of rad thus making the rad do more work

 :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Oil cooler in rad blocked , hence the faster the box works the hotter the rad will get from all the sludge . Internal auto box cooler blocked inside the rad  :-\

Unlikely - refers to small "oil cooler" for autobox built into drivers side of radiator.

The side of the radiator is where most autoboxes have their ATF cooler fitted as standard.  ;)

When its off the car i will check the flow to the AT fluid cooler .... ;)

Gearbox works fine , would of been issues with the box me thinks if it was over heating the ATF  :-\

Don't try and "flush" the gearbox atf cooler mate - just the main radiator ;)

Will do albs  ;)

Guess its a hit and hope job that the rad cleaner will do its job working its way through every fin , looking at all the advice it does add up to the fact that the flow is getting blocked and pumping back up through the header .

On with the job , ill be taking the rad off later once i can get the rad cleaner  ;)
