Hard hoses
« on: 20 March 2012, 17:35:15 »

I done my stat about two months back because of the lack of heat in the car its lovely now. I havnt used car much in that time only for the odd school run anyway it got a good run today well about 40 miles. When i got home i lifted the bonnet dont ask me why and noticed the rad hoses were rock hard. Is this normal

They should be firm as its a pressurised colling system (and hence why it boils at greater than 100degC).

If the hoses are soft then it hints at a coolant leak somewhere are excess air in the system.

makes sense, not noticed anything untowards though, water is clean and always sits with-in levels, hot or cold. Oil is all good, fresh and no mayo. As I just said, it's only the top hose thats soft.
