Not sure if your Passat has the same warranty on it LB, as my m8's one he's just bought.

They gave him a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty.......be interesting to see if they still honour it when the passat is 4/5 years old with quite possibly 200-250k miles on it, if he follows vw's service schedule of 20k miles  :-/ I can see it being a real oil burner with that sorta mileage with 20k oil changes

Mine is a company car TD. I would not pay out my own money on such a thing!!

5yr unlimited warranty?? I would read that warranty VERY carefully.

Oh and my replacement is a hire car so will be a Vectra/407/Mondeo or something like that (oh the excitement..).

I suspect its only for private buyers and not for business use.......but serveral dealers (ive asked tho not vw) promise to honour a 5 year warranty (those that offer it) even tho ive suggested if i buy it will be used as a taxi! .....usual get out is 2 year/100k for business users or similar in the 'small print'
It appears to me some dealers are happy to ignore what the car is used for.......maybe just to get the business  :-/ but as said wonders what their attitude would be when the car has mega miles and 4/5 years old  :-/

My pal. as previously mentioned has bought 3 new Passat diesels, he was always given a 2 year warranty and providing he had the car serviced at the dealer they would give him an extra year FOC.
