Temperature Gauge
« on: 29 March 2012, 15:53:50 »

Friend of mines , 2.2 has a fault with what now appears to be the temp gauge.

From cold start it will hardly move then within seconds it has gone beyond maximum causing the red warning light to come on.Almost as quickly as it has gone skyward,it that falls back down to the bottom of the gauge and will just sit there for minutes/hours /days then go through this crazy pattern again.

Both sensors on the coolant bridge have been replaced so only other thing we can really suspect is the gauge.

Is it possible for these just to be swopped over or does the entire speedo/rev binnacle unit need changing ?

its the dash display board at fault you can change the board for a working one or repair the old one by changing the resistors. if replacing make sure its from same year and engine. around £25 for second hand one.
