Blooming booming exhaust
« on: 29 March 2012, 18:16:20 »

Three times I've fettled* my bloody cheap exhaust, and it's the best it's been yet, but it's still, pardon the phrase, utterly s-t. The drone and the boom, and the fact it doesn't bloody fit properly so every now and again it's catching on the chassis.

I foolishly thought, rather than having to go back and forth to the MoT station (it's 30 miles from my house), that I'd get it done and it'd last me til I save the pennies for a proper one...

I'm onto Plan F or G now - the first one is to source a S/H proper system, the second one is going to be getting an Eternal system, like I should have bloody done in the first place. I only want to get six months out of it before I get a stainless, non-chav one fitted...

I'm also seeking advice on a complaint letter to the exhaust centre, I'm struggling to get past "Dear sirs, your exhausts are s-t"...

* fettled = idiotted with a big hammer

Look to see if the rear pipe clears the rear valance - if its short the back valance will act as a sound box!  A cheap exhaust pipe trim extension (usually chrome and around £5 on ebay) will quieten it down  :y

Worked for me  ;)
