How do I get rid of engine management light?
« on: 31 March 2012, 12:03:37 »

Engine management light was on due to having to run with broken mass air flow meter unplugged.

New one fitted, plugged in and running fine but light on dash remains  :-\

Ideas?

You may have another fault. Try disconnecting the battery for a hour but I'd be checking the codes again

Disconnecting the battery doesn't normally clear the codes.

It will extinguish after a certain number of engine starts with no fault, assuming there is no fault now.

If it doesn't go out after a few journeys it would be wise to read the codes as something else is wrong.

That's not quite right Kevin. If the EML is on, there is a fault. If the fault is fixed, the code might still be logged though untill 'a certain number of engine starts' after thye fault has been fixed.  ;)

Ideas?
How was the mass flow sensor 'broken'?

Did anything else get broken at the same time?

As said above you need to re-read the fault codes to find out what the current fault is.

I have no idea how it was broken, the car wouldn't run with it plugged in  :-\ bought new one and now it does run with it plugged in.

Pedal trick doesn't work on my 2.2 so looks like it's back to the computer...
