eBay, a cautionary tale...
« on: 09 April 2012, 10:26:09 »

I've been on the lookout for a 'new' car as the little Peugeot I've been driving around in for the last six months is getting on my nerves! Theres nothing wrong with it apart from it's very small and very basic, in fact it's been a revelation, comfortable, quick and VERY economical. It always starts and has never let me down, just this week it's been on a trip to Wales and then down to Kent to collect it's replacement, around 600 miles...

The 'wishlist' for my new car was a black or other dark coloured Omega with a manual box and a 3.0 engine, not too bothered about spec as long as it has xenon lights and a sunroof. Either saloon or estate (saloons look better but an estate would be handy for my mobile mechanic-ing work) L.P.G. would have been nice but not essential as I have a full kit sitting in the shed which could be installed.

I had a budget of around £500 and began the search for a new car, it wasn't too long before I found myself on eBay and then the problems began. A few hours somehow passed and when I returned to lucidity and checked my eBay summary I see I have TWO new cars!

Trouble is they 'aint black nor do they have the bigger engines....

Yep, both of them were less than £500 each!

At that price it would have been rude not to.

The Y reg MV6 was that from near Dudley? Was watching it if it was but never actually went to view it as I decided to get my one fixed instead  :(

Yes Mate it was from an address in Tipton, it was up for £550 buy it now if memory serves, but I offered less. 120,000 miles, Tax & M.O.T. in quite good condition, not too rusty, just seems a bit flat at the top of the rev's. Needs a M.A.F. apparently...

A friend of mine accidentally bought a Ferrari on Ebay, so I don't think you've got problems.

God, I miss my old MV6.

Even though I love my ex-plod to pieces, my MV6 was my first...
