Another "Non paying E bay buyer"
« on: 14 April 2012, 08:52:08 »

Put my daughters Nissan micra on e bay.   Good little car . . Will pass another test no probs but  thought I'd try it  as it stands with 2 months tax & MOT. Was looking for anywhere over £400

Had several people come & view it who also wanted to buy it there & then . But trying to be fair to all & as it is an "Auction" i let it run it's course.

Had 23 watchers , and  it sold for £480 .   guy from Kent.  Result . .

Winner contacts me  straight away , "when can I collect "

minutes later winner contacts me again  with "  sorry. .  but you are too far away . .   I've made a blunder"

He's only across the bridge at Dartford for Gods sake  :o :o :o :o :o :o

But winner confirms he is pulling out of purchase, I am not too bothered as have other interested parties.

I Contact another buyer , who is delighted & arranges to come & collect this morning (Saturday)

Guess what . . .  Yep you've got it  . .    just had a txt saying they can't raise the money so are pulling out  >:( >:( >:( >:(

total time wasters  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Part and parcel of selling a car these days unfortunately. Ebay can be a pain but most bidders bid last minute so I always ask for a small deposit at the end of the auction which is refundable if the car isn't as described, that should sort the wheat from the chaff. Even if you put the car in the Autotrader you get people arranging to come and view and they don't turn up, it really gets my goat >:(

I had similar with my old car before the miggy, guy was supposed to be coming to collect it but pulled out last minute due to a family emergency, luckily the guy who had next highest bid did take it off my hands and only lived around the corner from me so I avoided ebay fees too :D

And when they do turn up they turn out to be dodgy used car dealers who want it for 50% of the sale price on eBay, despite hitting 'buy it now' within minutes of the auction starting (they could have just come to view it first and walked away!)..

Not that I'm bitter, or anything.

you can offer it on ebay to the person who made the next bid down and even the one after that. You never know it could save a relist.

Had this happen to me - winning guy turned up to buy drove past and went. Offered it to next bidder who came looked and took away at bid price minus 20 for petrol.

whoops should read other posts but see it works

Next time do as I do and demand a non-refundable deposit immediately payable at the close of sale but make sure that it is entered into the ad when it is placed.
I do mine in big bold print right at the start of the ad...........then it cannot be disputed as not being noticed.
Better luck next time cos all buyers are not total tools like he was. Hope you gave him a really big black mark on feddback and did him as a non payer too. That way other sellers will know what to expect from the turd. :y
