S/Levellers to Std shocks ?
« on: 20 May 2012, 08:16:27 »

Hi all,
having real grief getting to the bottom of the S/l system not working  on '98   2.5 Elite . :'( :'( :'(

Thinking of doing away with the Self levellers which brings up a couple of questions.

Will the existing Elite springs be OK with standard non S/L  shocks fitted ?   :-\

Has anyone done this & if so what was the outcome , ride height & handling wise?   :-\

TIA          Al  :y

Pretty sure you will need to change the springs Al. S/L springs too soft to match up with standard dampers.
Whats wrong with S/L system then ? If the dampers are ok the component parts - compressor, sensors etc. should be available from someone breaking an Elite.

Springs are too soft without the air bags to support the damping rate IME. Very good chance the shocks will blow and leak oil, as my mv6 shocks did.

Fuse 27
Relay top of cabin fuse box
Pump drivers front wing
Sensor by fuel filter

Don't be tempted to drive it with inactive pump and SL shocks fitted, the air bags will chafe themselves to bits. They need to be inflated.

What problems are you having Al? Seem to remember a post on the pump...?
