Given that the heating at the unit comprises of two skips welded together with some holes in them...........I can quite beleave it!

Well the answer is as follows. I wouldn't call a plumber as i used to be one,I did have to go in the loft because i knew what the problem was straight away, circulation pump was screaming its backside off so i thought, hmmmm, theres no water in there, bled the system and only got air , no water to be seen, so i thought thers a  blockage in the header tank or the ball valve is stuck. So up i go into the tiny loft with my lead light in hand ::) found the smal header tank for the heating system and hey presto its empty with the ball valve stuck open, rested my lead lamp on the hot water header tank and watched it do a neat dive straight in ::) Electricity, hot bulbs and water are not the best of mixes, so with a loud bang, i was plunged into darkness  and i mean darkness as it was 11.45 pm and it knocked out the consumer unit, try crawling through a poxy loft in the middle of the night with no light :-[. Fortunately i didn't fall through the loft and yes i did fix it easily enough, but the correct answer is

I MADE A COMPLETE ARSE OF MYSELF BY DROPPING THE LEAD LIGHT INTO THE TANK :-[ :-[ ::) ::)
