Aux Belt removal
« on: 10 May 2012, 07:07:30 »

Hi all,
           have had a search through but can't find the answer to this . MFL 2.5 Elite

 When removing the Aux belt does the silver pipe work  which runs across in  front of the pulleys need to be removed first or can it be done with that in position ?

Think this pipe is part of the SAI   :-\ :-\ :-\

TIA    Al :-[ :-[

It's a while since I last did a belt, but you do have to split it somewhere along the line as the belt runs inside the SAI pipework. It's easiest if you remove all the bagpipes so you can see what you're doing.  :y

I've just done this last week.

Got to say ti's really easy. Slacken pulley bolts, tensioner clockwise (15mm wrench) pop belt off, release tensioner.

Without bagpipes removed i wouldnt fancy it. the silver pipe i would say should come out (secondary air injection pipe???) just for ease and as Andy says it will need to come off somewhere to tota\lly free the belt.

Just need the bracket unbolted that secures the pipe/s ;)

Thank you for your replies gentlemen . . .    will sort it on Saturday . . .  Rain permitting  ::) ::) ::)

Got a dry squeak at engine speed coming from low front centre of engine  . .   but disapears after 1k revs.

Thinking maybe  water pump. .  VX pump replaced 25k ago with cambelt :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Does not sound like it is coming from the Aux tensioner though . .  also not that loud . . really hardly  hear it with bonnet shut . . but it is annoying  >:( >:( >:( >:(

regards, Al :y :y :y
