key fob trouble.
« on: 08 August 2012, 17:46:02 »

Just today me keyfob has started refusing to lock the car. It opens the car as normal and opens the boot but will not lock. Is this a sign the batteries are on way out or could it be a faulty switch??

Sounds like one off the buttons has collapsed, or if the Fob plastic is a bit tied you can stick a bit of a spacer (small folded paper) in there, might last another year.

What state is the rubber cover in? If good, replace switches before you ruin the cover. If not, who cares, bodge it away as best you can, and look about replacing the switches and rubber when it finally gives up :y

ok had both key fobs apart. The one that stopped locking was because the button had broken off inside. Got that sorted now but on the other key the internal buttons are all there but not working. Can I get a new internal board or what do I need to do now? I know it doesnt really matter as I have one working key but you never know when you need the spare eh?!!
