I agree Martin,

Could easily start at the back. Fit tank/Filler and pipework, then run LPG lines to engine bay, fit filter solenoid, mount ECU and even Vaporiser, connect feed pipes and do wiring then, finally swap manifold and plumb water flow return.

I reckon on somewhere around 9-10 man days for a DIY installation to the standard I'd be happy with!

4 weekends about 6 hours a day not rushing

Oh, and what you're saying, Kevin, is that the MID still works although it is assuming petrol usage not LPG so MPG displayed will be slightly higher than actual figures, taking into account that I'd only expect to get 80-90% max economy on LPG in comparison to petrol.

I assume the range function wont work on LPG as it must use the petrol tank sender as part of its calculation? Not that it's a problem... Just use the trip counter. I didn't even have a gauge in the Rangey...  Just knew to fill up at around 300 miles every time!

In the meantime I have a couple of unresolved oil leaks to sort out, nothing too major - but just waiting for someone to come and supervise as they promised..

Lots and lots of busy dates (see the post)..

As you can see, I barely have the time to maintain my own car, let alone devote the time that my girlfriend, dogs, and family deserve..

It's no wonder I am run down  >:(

Whist I agree I did say I would help as soon as I could... if it's a real priority for you I would kindly suggest enquiring around a few other local members who would be happy to help you strip/refit the cambelt, crank pulleys, and change the oil seal...

Thank you for having the decency to reply at last..

I don't see why you chose to reply publicly like this.. but seeing as you have... Let me have a say too!!

It WAS and IS a priority and I did inquire - and YOU were the local member who put himself forward to OFFER his help!

You know full well that this story has been going on for FOUR months now.. and you make it sound that I was being unreasonable or beating your door down for a quick solution!!

The car broke down before Xmas and after repeated broken 'arrangements' you did come to see me Feb 9th.. and you did help me greatly by putting a new cam kit on.. but you promised to return in 2 weeks to finish the job. YOUR promise freely given..

You know that all you had to do was answer any of your messages, or keep to any of your postings on this subject..

I asked you many times to say if you couldn't come and I would take the car elsewhere or ask someone else.. but no, you kept me hanging around with just enough false hope that I thought it ungentlemanly to take it elsewhere..

In the meantime I have been without my car for 4 months - fortunately I have the use of my Mum's car..

Why wait so long people may say, but it's quite simple when you think that the alternative may be the grubby hands of a stealer.. And believe me an appointment has been made to take it there twice now.. but you guessed it - the appointment was canceled because someone promised to come again!!

If you really didn't have the time - all you had to do was say..
If you didn't want to do it then all you had to do was say..

And most importantly if you knew you were so booked up and busy for so long it was immoral to make the promises you did..

Don't get me wrong.. I was so grateful when you came, and I was so grateful that the car could be fixed..

but I gave you so many opportunities to back out - but YOU insisted to continue..

I'm not angry that you're not coming, that's your choice - but I am angry with myself for believing that you would keep your word!!  >:(

God James you're a busy man!!!!

I cant thank you enough for giving up one of your very few spare weekends.

James is very kind at offering and helpin to work on other peoples cars to the extent he ends up putting off the work that requires doing to his beast. >:(

I agree that he has a kind heart and I agree that he is kind to give up his weekends.. but that isn't the issue here and that's not what the problem was..

We all can have a problem with time management and god knows many of us agree to do things and think afterwards 'how the h*ll am I going to fit that in'

But if we make promises we keep them and usually we resolve things within 4 months and if not we don't say one thing in private and another in public..

But at the end of the day it's still a shame that James has decided to become an ex-member - he made an excellent contribution..

Just to say to everyone that reads this that I've only just read James' post to say he's leaving.. I have to fit the forum around a very busy schedule and I don't get chance to catch up as often as I'd like - hence writing this at 2.30am..

I'm truly sorry he's having personal problems.. I had no idea and he didn't say.

I truly mean what I said in my last post.. It's a great shame he's leaving - I did meet him and he has a great personality and is obviously kind hearted..

Although it's easier to understand the reason with hindsight - I was a little miffed that he didn't just say "I'm sorry Nick, I can't come" instead of running me round for so long..
