yet another question about the HBV - 2.2 CD auto
« on: 30 May 2012, 19:32:51 »

My poor Omega seems to be going through a bad spell at the moment. but the latest thing is that during the really hot weather last week my engine sprung a considerable water leak which I traced to the HBV. as a short term fix i put a bottle of decent quality water leak fixer in and gradually the leak has stopped. the weather cooling off may have helped too. but I'm going to replace the HBV anyway as their not too expensive  :)  however my question is this, my cars the 2.2 four pot. at about the same time that the water leak started. the engine began running pretty poorly in the lower rev range. much like having the choke out all the time .. but this has now cured itself with the water leak stopping. I notice thats theres a vacuum pipe on the HBV. would this have an effect on the running of the engine if theirs a fault inside ? ... I've read elsewhere here that the dis-pack can go because of the HBV, but on the 2.2 the water leak is nowhere near the dis-pack
