HDMI cables
« on: 16 June 2012, 09:28:25 »

I'm looking for a decient HDMI cable to connect my laptop (Toshiba Satellite) to my tv (Panasonic Viera lcd)

Popped into Maplins and then popped out laughing.
I'm not paying 35 quid for a 10 foot piece of wire with 2 plugs on the end  ::)

Had a look at ebay and they are hundrens of the buggers of various types.
What is the diffrence between V1.3 and V1.4 ?

Has anybody got a clue which lead I need please ?

Version relates to amount of data that can be chucked down it, maplins and any high street company really are a complete joke for cables, just get one from Amazon:

All depends on what connections you have, what do you have on the back of the laptop? Assuming VGA/DVI, some newer laptops do have HDMI outputs...

Googled that model, yup, HDMI, so assuming TV has it as well, simples.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Basic-High-Speed-Cable-Ethernet/dp/B005OS4NHE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339836187&sr=8-1

Cheaper cable here, up to you how much you want to spend. Depends what your needs are, I went for a slightly better one as I was using it for gaming.

What do you actually want to do? Use laptop on TV, output movies to it?
