Thanks Andy, must check it out, as I believe my tow bar is detachable, just curious really..... :y :y

My Merc has a detachable bar, but the numpty that originally had it fitted only requested a 12N basic socket.
Open the cover& count the terminals.  ;) ;)

The 13 pin soket /plug is far better as it twists clockwise to lock/seal
Needing an untwist action to release

Forgot to mention
If your going to fit one there ar 2 types to consider
1 with an integral car fog lights by-pass switch ( more expensive)
And 1 without the by-passs-switch

not sure what's been fitted, I trusted a so called 'proffessional'. WinStar (MB's Tech II) should be able to tell it to turn them off & the reverse sensors. I was going to do the full hit & buy and fit a dedicated 13 pin loom, but then thought that because I already had half of it ie the 12N I'd save my money & just get the charging & fridge wiring added to what was already there & fit the 13 pin socket.
Talk about if you want a job doing right ....... do it yourself!  >:(

He stands by his work. As it's a stainless drill head screw it'll not rust & I won't be back with earth problems, pity the car's only mild steel! As said to him, I won't be back anyway!
Another 'professional' crossed off my list!

So if you want holes drilling in your brand new or second hand car probably invalidating any corrosion warranty you might have had, take to to Peter Bowman

Remarkable restraint you showed there Andrew - I'd have been inclined to break something!

I think you should send him an email with this thread on, see what he says then.....you are right net is big and more and more of these stories will affect businesses in the future and if they think that they won't they are silly... :D :D This might be an Omega forum so he thinks little of it, but you are also a member of the Mercedes forum and perhaps the Caravan club and or similar forums, it is not going to take long before the people will affect the service we get, it is only an extension of local 'word of mouth' really anyway..... :y :y
