vauxhall dispute
« on: 27 June 2012, 13:23:41 »

i brought a new van march from vauxhall pentagon a movano had lots of problem on the day of collection wich meant i was there all day whilst they registered another van finally was about to drive away before adjusting the seat and said to the sales lady wheres the tilt adjustment on the seat she did not have a clue so thought will sort it out later when i finally stop for something to eat

basically there is not one despite vauxhall advertising a 6 way adjustable driving seat and i quote from the brochure

'driver seat adjustable for height, cushion angle, rake and reach'

would it be fair to say that one of those words describes the tilt action on a seat

There has been numerous emails with vauxhalls and the dealer who is now out the picture, I have on many occaission asked Vauxhalls to confirm what seat adjustment each word highlited above refers to, they have avoided this question and skirted around it.

they have also said they are unable to upgrade the seat or do anything similar although as an optional extra they do an airsuspension seat that is fully adjustable £400 option

they have now offered me a £150 voucher to spend on vauxhall accesories for my grievance if i agree its full and final settlement

i dont think i will accept this and confirm in writing the brief outline of my case sent via recorded delivery giving them 14 days to reply

any advice

Cushion angle sounds like seat and adjustment to me?

Height sounds like height, cushion angle would be back cushion angle, reach and rake I would expect to be down to steering wheel adjustment

thats the discription of drivers seat movment only steering wheel is elsewhere

i thought cushion angle would be seat tilt, rake was seat back angle/rake and reach was backwards /forwards and height was height :y

I'd read it as: (not same as what it means officially no doubt!)

driver seat adjustable for height - height adjustment

cushion angle - lumbar / angle of seat back

rake - angle that changes on later seats as you go up and down

reach - backwards and forwards on the runners!

Rake to me means the angle front-to-back, so the seat must be adjustable for height both front and back, or you can tilt the base.

At the end of the day, though, you got the seat that you saw when you bought the vehicle...

yes but i assumed in accordance to thier brochure and the sales advert that the seat did actually tilt... I was not given a demonstration of the vehicle becuase we ran out of time origonaly the vehicle should have been handed over at 8.30 but when i arrived the one that was registered etc had a large scratch all the way down one side that had been poorly repaired :o as luck would have it there was an identical van in the showroom which after much discussion they registered but it took until nearly closing time. I even had to rob an ariel of another van that was missing and rush in and get them to stamp the pdi that obviously had not been carried out

Vauxhalls were informed the very next morning of the seat issue :y

the problem i have is i am continualy sliding down the seat if that makes sense also no thigh support if i have the seat higher its better but i am too close to the steering wheel as you can not move backwards so far the higher you go(big bellies) and pedals so tend to ride the clutch seat cushions work at an angle but they are always moving

i was hoping they would simply change the seat ffor the fully austable air suspension one but they say they cannot retro fit this :o apparently ???
