Typical hbv fail.  ...other than the complete fail kind of course. :)

Mine went last week too on the new one. £33 on trade IIRC.

Hope that gets to the bottom of it!

Thank you to you all fella's. I can't wait to get the usual reliability back. When the car plays up it really knocks us for six.

Any ideas why all these parts should fail at nearly the same time though. Is it just age or simple bad luck?  ;D :-\

Bad luck. Oil cooler cover plate can weep for years without notice. Hbv cought you out by partial fail by the looks. That will be the main cause of the loss. IMO.

Right folks. Lets hope this is now over  ::)

Pressure tested cold using my modified cap created as per the guide on OOF  :y

Oh! it didn't like that.  ;D

It revealed a split in the hose coming from the coolant bridge to the HBV. Repaired that using the power of my Stanley knife and replaced the HBV whilst I was in there. (As I had one I thought would do it anyway).

So fingers crossed, that is the end of it  ;)

Thanks for all of your help, advice and guidance. As per usual, a brilliant site. Thanks OOF  :y :y
