Best fuel economy
« on: 17 July 2012, 16:05:31 »

According to auto trader there are 3 volvos, the c30, the s40 and the v50 in the top 10 list of most fuel efficient second hand cars in the uk.
Quite surprised at that, I always think of volvos as being heavy cars and therefor sore on the juice. :-\

I have a contractor at work that's got a new Volve V50 1.6 Diesel, and he's averaging 83mpg!!  :o

Love the look of the C30. Few years bach had a S40 T4 auto. 200bhp, lots of fun, but of a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Iirc, the engine 1.6 Diesel is used by Ford, Volvo, Citroen and a few others  ;)

My parents have the same engine in there C4 and are getting around 55 mpg.
Too get those sort of figures, you just throw "stop start" and a frap filter into the mix  :)
Amazing how figures can be massaged  ;)

ford/volvo were/are the same company, they now have stop/start technology and 1.6 diesel in the focus was horrendous when you came too a hill...then saying that £ 35 per year road tax :y

Agree  :y

Parents have the engine in the C4 with a auto box so that tends to cover the cracks a little.

Plus the road tax costs you sweet f**k all  :y

Ebay is littered with ex plod 1.6 diesel Focuses ::) seems they struggle to get much past 100k without going pop :-\
Those 20k service intervals have alot to answer for, me thinks :-\
