Schools and Corporate Promotion
« on: 18 July 2012, 16:44:58 »

Most days, my son comes home from school clutching a number of promotional flyers from various companies around the Lincoln area.

They can be promoting anything: football lessons, dancing lessons, outdoor pursuits, music lessons swimming lessons. The list is endless.  ???

Only today he appeared with a promotion from a company offering endless amounts of fun in an old gravel pit learning to canoe. Only £50 for the day. Wey hey!!  :o

I know the summer break is coming and the children will be bored at some point but these people are taking advantage of a captive audience and emotional blackmail.  :-\

Those activities all used to be provided by schools in after hours clubs for a small donation :( :(

We used to have, Football teams, Rugby teams and Cricket teams playing other schools in different age leagues every Saturday. Tennis, Athletics, Swimming, Basketball and Gym clubs. For the nonsporty types we had a Hobby Club where the 6th form made a hovercraft and we are talking 196?, Chess Club,Music Club and any activity that enough people supported. The School Masters used to contribute their time freely for an hour or so after school . :y :y :y

In fact two of our games masters were coaches to the local football club and rugby club colts ( Huddersfield Town and Fartown)

We ask where it all went wrong? :( :( :( I think the above is a clue  ::) :(

I know what it's like the schools and after schools activities always cost a packet and my kids alway say "but so and so is doing it why can't I" makes you feel guilty for working so hard and not being able to afford it, but if I were on benifits then gladly they could go >:( rant over

they cost so much because of insurances I believe

I'd pay them double that to take my son to an old gravel pit. :(
