Found some!!
« on: 13 April 2008, 19:58:04 »

Wooo-effin'-hoo! I finally managed to find, and put the deposit down on, some 19" snowflakes.

I got a good price too, thanks to a tip from AllyM, thanks bud, I owe you one! :y

Bought from pistonheads http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/380525.htm

I did have a pic to Omega-Elite's car, but he seems to have broken it for some reason.  >:(

I'm in two minds about those Elite wheels; part of me thinks that it might be sensible to stack them in the garage with winter tyres on, whilst the other thinks 'will I ever, in truth, put them back on once I've go the 19" snowflakes on there?'.

One thing I do know is that I'm going to give them a try for a month or two to see if I can handle the firmer ride or not before I make a final decision.

My car has already got a 25mm spacer on each rear corner and 10mm spacer on each front corner which fills the arches a bit better. I tried the snowflakes on one side of the car this afternoon (leaving the spacers on) and they looked great. Very spangly, they're a lot brighter silver nowadays aren't they the newer alloys? My Elite wheels are very clean, but next to the snowflakes they looked grey.

I fitted spacers on the rear of my Humber Sceptre, the studs snaped on one and the wheel fell off,  :(into the arch, i was lucky, no damage. :)

Did you use spacers or the decent "hub extension" type which still put the weight of the wheel on the centre cap?

I must admit I was concerned about the same thing, but I have been firmly reassured that the Eibach ones I am using are the business and are OK.

It was a long time ago but iirc the spacers came with a stud extension and a spacer that was the shape of a + with holes in it. It was a long time ago and on a 1965 car.
In 1990 I bought a new mini cooper and had spacers fitted to take wider tyres, these were from John Coopers and worked fine, but included new and longer wheel studs, still have the originals somewhere. :) :)
