prefacelift vs minifacelift ecu....
« on: 30 July 2012, 00:39:37 »

Hello,
I'm after some info about the connector onto the ecu, i know the facelifts are different and such as gearbox ecu connectors are all different between the different versions but are the prefacelift and miniface lift connectors the same for the engine ecu?

also, on the prefacelift cars, to disable the immobilisor do you just unplug the ecu for it? (i know that the mini facelift is integrated into the engine ecu)

thanks in advance
Alex

thanks for the reply,
i'm going to try buying a prefacelift, buy a carlton c30 ecu, buy a gsi engine, buy some uprated bits and a turbo and then make some asylum noises and a turbo omega with a straight 6 may happen lol

im pretty sure the early prefacelifts run a seperate immobilisor ecu around the passenger airbag area and the later have it integrated into the engine ecu

problem is that the throttle body on the carlton is cable so i need possibly a mini facelift unless i fancy raggin the glovebox out :P the prefacelift looks a lot nicer from the front :(
thanks
alex

There's a few things here....

the separate "relay" immobiliser was fitted to very early pre-facelift cars only. I'd say if you bought an "N"-reg car, it'll have the later system.

All cars right through to half-way through facelift ( i.e. all apart from 2.6/3.2 ) were the same with cable throttle.

C30SE conversion has been done a few times before. Cable throttle no problem. You'll need the Carlton transmission, too.

suspect some wiper motor fitting problems

Easy way to check is if it had IR locking or RF locking :)

C30SE has a bellhousing pattern not fitted to Omega B at all.
