2.2l exhaust centre boxes
« on: 01 August 2012, 20:34:15 »

Hi, I'm relatively new to Omega ownership and need some info, please.

The MOT is coming up and both centre boxes need changed. The car is a J-reg 2.2l estate.
While looking for the centre sections online I've found that the saloon versions are a bit cheaper than the estate ones.
They seem to have different part numbers, but are they different enough that the saloon ones wouldn't fit the estate at all?

Another problem the car has is the engine management light comes on frequently and it runs rougher/less power than when it's off. If while driving it comes on, I can generally get it to go off if I switch off engine then wait a few seconds, restart engine and it usually goes off. Might take a couple of goes before it goes off. On long journeys it will then stay off and it runs OK, with obvious better fuel consumption. Is this fault solely down to the crank or cam sensors? If so, which is the most likely?
As it might fail the MOT on emissions if the light is on when it is tested, I'd like to fix it if possible.

Finally, how do you get a good, functioning handbrake? My mate, who gave me the car, said for every MOT he had to adjust handbrake up till it was almost binding to get it to pass. I'd like to fix it properly.

Thanks in anticipation. :y

J reg? I assume you are not talking about Carlton, as you are UK based.

Try Eternal on ebay for a tried and tested pattern exhaust. For Omega, you may need to use 2.0l one on 2.2l
